Event description
We are delighted to advertise our Merton Primary Curriculum Conversations for geography, history, art and computing. This initiative has been designed in partnership with Roehampton University, the Merton Special Teaching School Alliance, the Attain Partnership and Merton School Improvement.

The sequence of 3 afternoon workshops has been planned to support primary subject leaders explore the design and implementation of their subject in greater detail. Facilitated by expert leads from Roehampton University they will allow all participants to share current practice, to dive into subject content and to consider both progression and pedagogy. The sessions will also be supported, where appropriate, by invited colleagues from our special schools and secondary schools, so that the groups can reflect on issues of adaptation, differentiation and transition.

Set up as curriculum conversations the sessions will allow all participants to talk around their subject, discover what makes their subject unique and to ask questions of each other and the expert facilitators. Fitting with the latest expectations from Ofsted each session will focus on a particular theme our schools are currently working on. The initial session will look at the delivery of content and support leaders in their own subject knowledge. Later sessions will look at pedagogical style and what it is to be a teacher of geography, history, art or computing.

Based on these shared conversations each subject will be written up into a curriculum booklet which will be shared with Merton schools and sit alongside the existing subject leader materials currently in schools.

Each Attain school will be able to send one member of staff to a sequence of three sessions for one subject, free of charge. After an appropriate period of time, we will open up the registers so that if schools wish to send additional teachers to sessions in the same subject; or teachers to attend additional subject areas, there will be a charge of £60 per session.
